Santa's night out

CHILLY weather did not stop the fun as Haverhill celebrated its big night, the annual family shopping event on Friday.
Crowds thronged the streets as shops stayed open late, charity stalls were set up, there were funfare rides for the children, street entertainment and a spectacular firework finale on the recreation ground.
Santa was in his grotto at the Solutions in Recruitment office in Queen Square and staff at Tan Express in Queen Street wore fancy dress outfits and carried out charity waxings on their male staff. At the News office in Queen Street, staff got into the festive mood by wearing Victorian costume and running a hog roast in aid of local charities.
There were street entertainers,
Haverhill and District Choral society members sang traditional Christmas carols and Ridgewell Primary School rang handbells.
