Thursday, 28th September 2000.
Haverhill Rovers kept alive their hopes in the FA Vase by fighting back from 1-0 down at home to Hornchurch to earn a replay thanks to Ben Cowling's 70th minute equaliser in the second qualifying round.
The goalscorer later hobbled off in extra-time, leaving Rovers to play on with only 10 men because they has already used three sustitutes. "W created more chances than them, but we just didn't take them, " said manager Paul Goodman.
The club is sponsored by Wilcon Homes. The housebuilder has provided tracksuits for both first and second teams (pictured above), who play in the Jewson League Division One and Essex and Suffolk Border League Division One respectively.
Wilcon Homes sales director Chris Craig said: "As a company Wilcon are always keen to be involved in the community in which we build, and when we had a request to support Haverhill Rovers we didn't hesitate to answer.
The pioneering housebuilder has created developments in Haverhill in recent years and has plansn for a new development later this year.
The club's commercial manager and assistant coach John Stephens said:"The club has been revamped completely and we're working hard to ensure we improve our position in the league and give a good account of ourselves throughout the season in both leagues and cup matches.
"The new tracksuits are just part of a fresh drive to push the club forward into a new era.
