Rovers U15s dominate in comfortable win

Tuesday, 9th February 2010.

EASTERN ALLIANCE JUNIOR LEAGUE UNDER 15s: Haverhill Rovers 3 Cornard Utd 0, match report.

Rovers dominated this game from the start, and they attacked at will exposing Cornard down both flanks.

It was no surprise when Rovers scored, as Palmer and Clarke combined down the right and Clarke surged into the penalty area and cut the ball back for the on-fire Gathercole to score.

Cornard tried to respond but Rovers' defensive unit kept them from creating any chances.

Rovers continued to attack at will and only a combination of great goalkeeping, defending and poor finishing kept the score down to one.

The second half continued in the same vein, as Rovers kept creating and squandering chances and the home fans began to get edgy.

But they need not have worried as,from another Taylor corner, Kennedy steadied himself and fired home the second.

Cornard then threatened as Rovers momentarily switched off. First Saville brilliantly saved a free kick, then, from the resulting corner, Hardwick cleared off the line.

Rovers, though, regained there composure and scored the third, Kennedy again smashing in from a rebound off the bar. Cornard never threatened again and Rovers ran out comfortable winners.
