Reward offered after family's moped present is stolen
Monday, 19th March 2012.
A man has offered £100 reward for information after a new moped the family clubbed together to by for his son was stolen from their garage.
Jason Jeggo said the whole family together bought the £900 moped for his son Luke's 16th birthday and Christmas present.
The third party insurance was so costly they could not afford fire and theft insurance, bur Jason, who works as a court warrants officer, said he made sure it was always secure.
On Friday evening a friend of Luke's noticed some youths watching as he put his bike in ther garage. Luke later put his in there as well.
Jason said he himself checked the garage was locked properly, and the moped steering was locked.
Overnight thieves smashed their way into the garage and took the bike, although they left Jason's valuable fishing gear.
The bike is distinctive and Jason said may young people in Haverhill were now looking out for it.
It is a black and silver Qingqi QM507-10R 50cc moped, with silver front panels with black stickers and black rear panels with white stickers and bright red handle grips.
Anyone who saw the moped being taken, knows where it is now or has any information about the crime can contact police on 101 quoting reference HH/12/598.
The £100 is offered for the return of the bike or for information leading to catching the thieves.
