Residents to be quizzed about play area
Tuesday, 16th February 2010.
Residents in and around Lowry Close in Haverhill are to be questioned about the future of the children's play area nearby.
The future of the play area and equipment has become one of this month's priorities for Haverhill police's Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT).
Although police have not been called to deal with anti-social behaviour at the site, there is a problem of vandalism and general untidyness associated with it.
The SNT is a multi-agency group which can bring together different interests to work out the best way forward.
The SNT's monthly public meeting last week identified it as one of its three priorities, and now questionnaires are to be sent to 288 local residents for opinions about the play area and its usage.
St Edmundsbury Council will be involved in the process as owners of the area, and have already agreed to site a dog bin in the vicinity.
The month's other two priorities are carried over from last month - anti-social behaviour in Sorrel Walk, where increased police patrols have begun to see improvements, and the ongoing youth diversionary project in and around the town centre.
The issue of anti-social behaviour at Subway near the leaisure centre, has now been resolved.
