Residents in the Lowry Close area of Haverhill have voted that a troublesome play area for children should be revamped.
After complaints that the area was being used for groups of youngsters involved in anti-social behaviour, Haverhill police's Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) to the issue on as one of its priorities.
St Edmundsbury Borough Council, which had just taken over the play area from the developer, sent a questionnaire round to 288 residents asking if they wanted it removed or revamped.
Damien Parker, the council's parks manager, told the SNT's meeting yesterday they had received 87 questionnaires back and there was a majority in favour of revamping.
Haverhill town clerk Gordon Mussett told the meeting the town council had £10,000 available and could put it towards the revamp.
