Purse thief strikes twice in Haverhill High Street

A purse thief has targeted Haverhill High Street and led police to warn people to keep their belongings secure.
On Monday a 24-year-old woman was shopping in the town when her purse was stolen from within her handbag.
The same day a 78-year-old woman was shopping in the town when her wallet containing her pension book, savings book and cash was stolen from within a plastic bag on top of her shopping trolley. Police are linking the two crimes.
Police are asking people to ensure that their belongings are secure and out of sight at all times when out and about. Purse chains/alarms are available from local Crime Reduction Officers on 01284 774100.
