Pupils get their revenge on Sir
Thursday, 18th July 2002.
PUPILS got their revenge on teachers by pelting them with wet sponges -- but it was all in a good cause to raise money for the cardiac unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
Sixth Former Louise Ballantyne, 18, organised a number of charity events during the school sports day at Castle Manor Upper School, in Haverhill, to raise money for the unit. Some of the nurses from the unit went along to the event to join in the fun.
Louise, who only started at Castle Manor last September, decided to try and help the unit because of the good treatment received there by a 45-year-old man who is awaiting a transplant operation.
"They do a really good job and when we were voting on what to raise money for, I came up with the idea.
"We have been planning it for the last couple of months and everyone has really helped.
"The teachers have been terrific and we had a great turn-out of those willing to have sponges thrown at them," Louise said.
