Pupils dance their way to a show stopper
Thursday, 28th March 2002.
Around 1 ,000 hours of preparation were put into creating a Dance Extravaganza at Castle Hill Middle School in Haverhill.
Five packed performances were given of the show, choreographed by teacher Karen Woolley, which involved a total of 67 girls and one boy.
Brave Liam Mannley, 13, was unconcerned at being the only male dancer and Mrs Woolley said he gave a stunning individual performance as Mr Bojangles.
Kim Thake, 11, also gave an impressive, baton-twirling, individual performance.
Mrs Woolley, who joined the staff at Castle Hill in September, said the event had been a massive success and she hoped it would now be held annually.
“I had done it before in another school, but these kids responded really well to it. They all worked together and it has been really positive. We have worked on it at lunchtimes, after school and before school. The performances have gone really well and they were fantastic,” Mrs Woolley said.
