Pupils begin to measure up
Thursday, 29th November 2001.
SIXTH FORM students got out tape measures and cameras to start working on designs for a striking piece of artwork to be created at the entrance to their town.
Pupils of Castle Manor and Samuel Ward Upper Schools met sculptor Rob Olins at the roundabout on the western approach to Haverhill, where he has been commissioned to come up with a design.
Students took measurements and photographs as the first stage in producing a series of scale models of the site.
Two larger models will be used by Mr Olins to work on his design for the finished sculpture.
Computers will also be used to produce three dimensional plans of the site and students will be encouraged to produce work of their own for their A level courses.
