Public urged to be vigilant after series of thefts
Tuesday, 10th April 2012.
Five vehicles were broken into on the Chalkstone estate in Haverhill over the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, April 3 and 4.
Power tools were among items stolen, and police are re-iterating warnings not to leave valuable items in vehicles.
The exhausts were stolen from two trucks parked in the town centre between March 30 and April 2.
Police believe the thieves thought these contained catalytic converters, although they did not, and the exhausts were later found dumped.
Acting Sgt Will Wright of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team urged people to be vigilant,particularly in darker areas of the town, and report anything suspicious immediately.
He also stressed the importance of keeping sheds and garages locked to thwart burglars.
Items were stolen from a woman's handbag in the town centre over the weekend and Acting Sgt Wright added a warning to people never to leave property unattended in any circumstances.
