Public forum on Haverhill health provision issues
Thursday, 5th April 2012.
A public forum to discuss GP out-of-hours service provision and quiz health chiefs on plans to fill the gap left by the announcement of the closure of Crown Health Centre will be held by One Haverhill later this month.
The public forum, entitled The Future Of Health Services In Haverhill, is the second public event organised by One Haverhill which will take place every six months. Their aim is to gather opinion on local issues and then take action as a town.
Guest speakers will include Martin Royal, director of corporate services at NHS Suffolk; and Dr David Lee, regional medical director for Harmoni, which manages Suffolk’s GP out-of-hours service.
The forum takes place at Samuel Ward Academy at 6.30pm on Thursday, April 26, and any member of the public is welcome to attend. There will also be an opportunity to raise other public issues affecting Haverhill and to hear feedback from issued raised at the last forum in September.
Anne Gower, chair of One Haverhill, said: “I would like to invite you all to attend the One Haverhill board public meeting to discuss what happens after the Crown clinic closes.
"Health services in Haverhill are something that affects each and every one of us at some time in our lives and it is important that in the future we get the services we need and deserve.
“This is your opportunity not only to discuss health issues but also to find out more about One Haverhill and what we are hoping to achieve for our town. Please do come along and have your voice heard.”
One Haverhill is a board set up last year to bring together a range of stakeholders, including all three tiers of local government, the business sector, education, police, health and others as one voice with the aim of improving the quality of life for people in Haverhill.
Community transport will be provided for people who cannot access public transport. To book your transport telephone 01440 712028, at least 24 hours before the event.
