Pub takes top prize for flowers

A pub which is a blaze of colour with brimming hanging baskets won first prize in the Haverhill in Bloom business competition.
Landlords Diana Bruton and Ian Smith are proud of the floral displays they have provided at the Queen's Head in Queen Street since they took it over almost six years ago.
Haverhill in Bloom judges awarded them first prize of a £40 Prezzo restaurant voucher donated by Haverhill Town Centre Management Group.
Second prize of four Cineworld vouchers went to Tony Strowger Jewellers in High Street, and third prize went to F2S, which received a one kilo basket of chocolates from Indulgence.
Valerie Morton, one of the organisers of the competition, congratulated the winners and thanked the sponsors.
She said: "This event proved to be a great success and we are confident that many more traders will enter next year."
Gardeners are reminded that Haverhill In Bloom will hold its next gardeners' market on the recreation ground on Sunday, October 4.
