Pre-school gains a new outdoor play area
Thursday, 20th November 2014.
Children at Happy Faces Pre-School in Colne Valley Road will soon be enjoying a large amount of outdoor space to play in thanks to the Scout and Guide Association, which has allowed them use of their fields.
This has enabled the pre-school to change their current outside area to provide some excellent new zones, which encourage the children to explore, build, write, dig, perform and grow outdoors.
There is a construction area for building, with a den alongside for inspiration and to provide a quiet spot to read, draw, write or chat with friends.
A new deck doubles as a stage and allows youngsters to develop their inner performer, whilst a mud kitchen invites them to be creative imaginary cooks!
Diana André, manager of Happy Faces, is very pleased with the new outside area and the way it has been used already.
She said: "Our children have had great fun exploring our new area and using the new resources.
"Outside play is extremely important to the development of young leaners and children love to be outside, our new area provides fantastic opportunities to learn and have fun outside."
Materials for the new area were donated by a selection of local companies, including QSF Interiors, The Firepit Company and KP Landscaping.
The fields belonging to the scouts and guides are directly adjacent to Happy Faces and provide even more space for the children to run, play games or explore the areas amongst the trees.
Diana took over as manager of Happy Faces in September and is grateful to the scouts for allowing them to use their fields.
She said: "The ability to use the scouts outside area means that we can spend even more time exploring the great outdoors!"
Happy Faces currently has some vacancies for children aged 2-5 years. For more information or to find out if you might qualify for a funded place visit their website www.happyfacespreschool.co.uk or phone Diana on 07796 260 871.
