Police step up patrols to deter summer rowdy behaviour
Monday, 6th August 2012.
Police in Haverhill have been stepping up patrols in various areas of the town to nip in the bud any potential anti-social behaviour during the summer holidays.
The process began with Queen Street, which is already a priority area set at a public meeting in June.
The town's police chief, Insp Peter Ferrie, has been meeting local businesses to discuss any problems and to agree how to target patrols.
Reports of a few anti-social behaviour incidents at the Newt Pond, off School Lane, have resulted in increased levels of patrols, and the same is happening at the new St Felix Catholic church, where groups of youths have been seen to damage the new landscaping amd throw stones.
No serious damage has been reported but police are keen to have a high profile to prevent anything worse developing.
To help them target their patrols they are asking the public to report any incidents or areas where they have experienced problems.
