Police Appeal for Wit;nesses of Attack
Tuesday, 4th February 2003.
A MAN was attacked and robbed as he walked in Haverhill on Sunday morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the robbery of a 20-year-old man as he was walking from the Clements Estate into Burton End at approximately 4.45am.
The man was between the North Avenue roundabout and the Stars and Jars newsagents when he was approached by an unknown male, who struck him to the right side of his face causing him to fall to the floor.
The offender then removed the victim's wallet from his coat pocket. He sustained swelling and reddening to his right cheek bone, which was checked but not treated at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.
The only description of the offender is that he is white and was wearing dark clothing. The wallet was a black leather wallet which contained bank cards and a small quantity of cash.
Police are appealing to other people in the area at the time of the robbery to contact DC Neil Vollenhoven on (01284) 774100
