Police appeal for information after school fire
Tuesday, 5th June 2012.
Police are appealing for information following the major fire at derelict Castle Hill Middle School in Haverhill on Sunday.
Officers were contacted by the fire service when they attended the fire. There have been a series of acts of theft and vandalism at the site in recent months.
Fortunately, no one was inside the buildings when they caught alight.
The structure of the building is not currently stable enough for fire officers to carry out a full examination into the cause of the fire but following initial investigations it is being treated as suspicious.
Police are appealing for anyone who has information about how the fire was started or who may have started it to contact police immediately on 101.
Officers are also urging members of the public to stay away from the site as it is unsafe and anyone entering would be putting themselves at risk.
