Police appeal after sharp lookout foils car break-in

Haverhill police are keen to talk to anyone who saw anything of a suspicious incident in Atterton Road around 7pm on Saturday.
A sharp-eyed local resiodent saw two men acting suspiciously near a parked car and told the owner of the vehicle.
He went out to investigate and was confronted by two men, one wielding a golf club. He was sworn at but not threatened and the men went off in a dark blue hatchback.
It is thought they were about to use the golf club to break into his car.
The man with the club is described as 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall, in his mid 20s, of stocky build with short dark hair and was wearing a dark jacket and light trousers.
The other man was 5ft 8in tasll of skinny build and wearing a light jacket and dark trousers.
Sgt Darah Bartley of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood team urged anyone who saw anything suspicious in that area around that time to call them on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
