Plans To Cut Speed Agreed
Thursday, 3rd July 2003.
A LONG-AWAITED scheme to modify controversial speed cushions on a town estate will go ahead, despite objections from residents.
Members of St Edmundsbury Borough Council's cabinet agreed a £35,000 scheme to convert the speed cushions into humps on Haverhill's Chalkstone Estate should go ahead.
They ruled the objections raised did not mean the scheme should not go ahead. It was felt traffic speed on the estate had risen to unacceptable levels and there was public support for speed reduction measures.
