Planning Application Success Could Bring 350 New Jobs for Haverhill
Monday, 27th August 2007.
Carisbrooke, the developer of the Haverhill Business Park, has submitted a planning application to build a massive, 191,000 sq ft, new distribution facility for Culina Logistics, on the Haverhill Business Park, Haverhill.
Established in the UK in 1994 as the logistics platform for Müller Dairy, the UK's leading yoghurt manufacturer, Culina provides chilled supply chain solutions to some of the leading brands and chilled manufacturers in the UK. The company currently employs over 750 people, with facilities in Market Drayton (Shropshire), Milton Keynes and Prime Point (Staffordshire).
Should the application be successful, it is expected that Culina will bring an estimated 350 jobs to the area.
Rien Brakel, managing director of Culina Logistics, said: “Due to the continued growth of our UK client base and the strong organic growth of existing clients within our current portfolio, we are now seeking to enhance our network.
“With a large percentage of our clients’ manufacturing facilities based on the continent and a heavy concentration of outbound deliveries in the south east of England, Haverhill provides a perfect centre for the next phase of expansion of our business.”
It is proposed that the design and build facility be situated on the eastern side of the Haverhill Business Park, on a 12.36 acre site to also comprise two-hundred parking spaces, seventy-five HGV spaces and twenty-five dock-level spaces. The distribution facility will also have 15,000 sq ft of office space.
Nic Rumsey of Carisbrooke commented: “Culina coming to the Haverhill Business Park is great news for the town, region, and the park. The company will be joining the likes of Percy Dalton, Buildbase, Terrance Barker, HID, The Days Inn hotel, Haverhill and the Haver Arms.”
Haverhill Business Park straddles the Suffolk and Essex border and has 28 acres remaining for mixed-use developments including industrial warehousing, offices and research and development
Letting agent for the scheme are Cambridge-based Carter Jonas and London-based Rumsey & Partners. Culina was represented by sbh.uk
