Planners consult on open space and sports facilities
Tuesday, 2nd October 2012.
The amount of open space and recreation facilities provided within new housing areas by developers is the subject of the latest phase of the planning consultation.
The Local Development Framework, a wide-ranging series of documents about how planning will be regulated over the next 20 years is being put together by St Edmundsbury Borough Copuncil.
Ther latest element is a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) dealing with open space and recreational amenities.
This covers everything from children's play areas to cemeteries and if you have any strong views on how much green space should be retained in Haverhill you can put that opinion forward during the public consultation.
This SPD sets out the council’s approach to the provision of open space, sport and recreation facilities in conjunction with new housing development.
The guidance has been prepared to give developers and the public up-to-date information on developer contributions which are reasonably related in scale and kind to the development proposed.
The draft SPD is now subject to a six-week consultation from September 25 to November 6.
