Pensioner robbed while walking to town
Monday, 18th March 2002.
Police are appealing for information after an 85 year old woman was robbed while walking towards the Town Centre.
At around 9:40 am on Saturday the pensioner was grabbed from behind as she walked along the footpath alongside Haverhill Sports Centre.
She noticed a man loitering by the bench, shaped like a railway carriage, when shortly after she past him he grabbed her handbag from her arm.
The robber who fled in the direction of Vange Place.is described as around 30-years-old, 5 foot 6 tall and of stocky build.
He had a round face with stubble and was dressed in a black 3 / 4 length jacket and black woollen hat.
