Pensioner in plea to vandals
Thursday, 17th June 1999.
PENSIONER Maurice Sigler is appealing to vandals who have repeatedly damaged and stolen flowers from his hanging baskets, to leave them alone. Mr Sigler, 65, who lives at Parsonage Gardens in Haverhill, proudly displayed seven hanging baskets outside his home.
They looked tine in the evening, but when he got up the next morning all the flowers were gone.
Last year Mr Sigier had the same problem, but he is determined not to be beaten. He hopes that if youngsters are responsible and have taken his plants home, their parents will realise where they have come from.
"I cannot understand the mentality of these people and it is really starting to get to me," he said.
"I am very annoyed. I have harmed no-one. I am trying to make this little area look nice which is not easy when you are only on a pension. I get so frustrated."
Previously Mr Sigler has had buds cut off flowers in his garden and left on his doorstep.
