Organisers promise bigger and better Summer Bash

Thursday, 12th June 2014.

Haverhill Summer Bash 2014 is going to be bigger and better and raise even more for local good causes, organisers say.

There will be three events this year, over the weekend of July 19 and 20.

The summer bash began last year, taking the place of the long-established Haverhill Show.

This year it will be hosting two events at the New Croft, home of Haverhill Rovers. On the Saturday, from 10am to 4pm, there will be an event promoting Haverhill’s sporting and leisure opportunities together with some family fun rides and inflatables.

The Saturday evening will be Haverhill’s first ever music festival, showcasing local bands and artists. A variety of Food and drink including a bar will be available during the day and evening.

On the Sunday there will again will be the traditional Family Fun Day with an improved and expanded dog show, with an additional agility competition and also the opportunity to teach your dog a trick.

The flower show and cake show will be returning after their great success last year as will the ever-popular baby show

Organisers will be looking for teams of six for the crowd-pleasing tug of war.

The proceeds to be given out this year to local good causes will be split into five lump sums. Lamp H will always be the main beneficiary, but Haverhill Scouts and Guides, although they received funds from the bash last year, will again benefit due to them assisting with helpers over the weekend.

Local poverty action group Reach and St Nicholas Hospice will also benefit and the remainder will be divided between smaller youth groups, which organisers invite the public to nominate.
