One way to donate to an Eggs-ellent cause
Thursday, 1st April 2010.
Age Concern Suffolk is appealing to people across the county to support the work they do with isolated elderly people by donating £1 for every egg they’ve bought for family and friends this Easter.
Chief executive Daphne Savage commented: “People may think that spring means people in later life are less likely to suffer from hardship than during the winter. But this is not the case.
“Many older people we work with are isolated, not only geographically, but also because they rarely leave their homes due to frailty or illness.
"For many this may means they do not benefit from the community activities taking place during Easter or from social contact with other people.
“We would like to improve this experience for as many older people as possible, with help from the local community this Easter.”
Age Concern Suffolk is aiming to raise over £5,000 from this appeal. The money will be used to support the work done by the charity’s network of over 250 befriending volunteers in Suffolk who brighten up the lives of older people across the county by providing support and companionship.
Donating to Age Concern Suffolk is simple. To send a cheque or cash please post to: Age Concern Easter Appeal, 14 Hillview Business Park, Old Ipswich Road, Claydon, IP6 0AJ.
Or donations can be taken directly to the charity’s shops/offices in: Claydon, Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Lowestoft, Stowmarket, Sudbury, Felixstowe or Mildenhall. If you’d like additional information or help making a donation ring: 01473 359911
