Now you can book your wedding years ahead
Wednesday, 26th January 2011.
From next week, Suffolk Registration Service is lifting the restriction which currently prevents couples from booking registrars more than 12 months in advance of their ceremony.
All bookings can be made as far into the future as necessary, but will be subject to some conditions:
A deposit of £100 must be paid at the time of booking and is non-refundable under any circumstances;
Bookings must be made for a specific venue and time;
Couples must ensure they carry out the legal preliminaries to marriage/civil partnership within the legal timescales;
The venue booked must continue to hold a licence on the day of the ceremony.
Cllr Colin Spence, Suffolk County Council's portfolio holder for public protection, said: To avoid disappointment we would encourage couples wishing to book registrars for 2012 onwards to make contact with us by telephone or personal visit as soon as they can from February 1.
"Bookings will be taken on a strictly first come first served basis from this date. We expect a lot of interest in this change of policy and as such, couples should expect our phone lines and offices to be very busy.
