No action taken against boys arrested after damage trail
Wednesday, 16th June 2010.
Two boys, arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after trail of incidents in April, are to have no further action taken against them.
A window and a gate were damaged at the China Inn restaurant in Station Road, piping ripped off the side of the health clinic behind the Rose and Crown and a string of vehicles in Crowland Road, Downs Place, Downs Crescent and Vange Place were damaged.
Ten vehicles were damaged, seven of them in Crowland Road, mostly by breaking wing mirrors, but some by scratching.
Much of the damage, to the window and to the wing mirrors was done using wheelie bins.
The boys, both 16 and from Haverhill, were arrested later that day and had been bailed to re-appear later at Bury St Edmunds police station.
But police have now indicated no further action is to be taken against them.
