New strategy aims to deliver economic growth in Suffolk
Monday, 18th February 2013.
County leaders are being asked to endorse the Suffolk Growth Strategy next week.
Suffolk County Council says it has been working with partners in district and borough councils to develop an effective strategy for Suffolk that will deliver economic growth, create more jobs and increase prosperity.
The strategy defines the public sector’s ambitions and how local councils, by working together, intend to achieve these goals and enable the growth of the private sector across Suffolk as a whole.
A consultation, launched earlier this year, gave business and individuals across Suffolk the opportunity to comment on the strategy and give their feedback to help shape the future of Suffolk’s economic growth
Cllr Judy Terry, cabinet member for economic development, said: “The quality of life for everyone working and living in Suffolk is affected by the economic growth in the county.
“Our ambition, through this strategy, is to create even more high value jobs across the county and ensure Suffolk is home to businesses that play a prime role in driving the sustainable growth of the UK economy.”
Endorsement of the strategy, the council says, will ensure a co-ordinated local authority approach to economic growth across Suffolk.
