New MENTA boss to speak about agency's future
Tuesday, 4th October 2011.
The new boss of Suffolk Enterprise Agency MENTA will be giving a talk to Haverhill business people next week.
The bestofhaverhill holds its next event on Thursday, October 20, at Days Inn Haverhill, from 10am to 11.30am, and thr speaker will be Alex Till.
The theme of Wanting The Best For Haverhill continues with Mr Till, recently appointed chief executive of MENTA. He joined MENTA from Suffolk County Council where he was operations manager.
With a CV that includes positions with Business Link Suffolk, Suffolk Acre and the Suffolk Development Agency, Mr Till is certainly experienced in the provision of business support and understands the complexities of economic development within the county.
There are interesting times ahead for MENTA as the public sector spending cuts filter through and impact on the county, the Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) build momentum and Business Link moves from a business advisory service to become the Government’s online resource for business.
Against this backdrop of change, the role of MENTA, as a source of business support, advice and training, will become even more crucial.
An ability to work in partnership with other agencies across Suffolk to meet the needs of the business community will also be required if MENTA is to survive and thrive.
Mr Till will talk about the future of MENTA and his vision for how the agency can rise to the challenges presented by the uncertainty in our economy and develop a sustainable proposition over the coming years.
Elaine Carr, the owner of thebestofhaverhill, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Alex Till to thebestofhaverhill event this month. I know that Alex is very passionate about building on the strong foundations that MENTA has put in place over the past 27 years.
"He is keen for MENTA to develop and grow, despite the harsh economic climate. Many Haverhill businesses have benefited from the services and assistance that MENTA has made available over the years, from training courses to easy in, easy out office space.
"I am sure the local business community will be interested to hear how Alex sees the role of MENTA developing in the town and will be hoping that the agency remains committed to supporting Haverhill for the foreseeable future."
