New Havebury office and flats completed
Wednesday, 20th March 2013.
Havebury Housing Partnership tenants will be picking up the keys to their new home in the centre of Haverhill this week, as work on a £1.2m development on the High Street comes to completion.
The new development comprises five one-bedroom flats, two two-bedroom flats and a new office base for the affordable homes provider, Havebury, on the site of the former carpet shop gutted by fire.
Priority for the flats was given to existing Havebury tenants who were looking to move to a smaller home. As a result of the Government’s welfare reform, from April ‘under-occupying’ tenants will have to pay between £11 and £20 a week for bedrooms in their property deemed to be in excess of their needs.
The seven new flats feature modern kitchen and bathroom facilities, open plan living and several have their own private balcony.
They also comply with the Level 3 Code for Sustainable Homes, a national standard to encourage and improve energy efficiency in our new properties and minimise their environmental impact.
Karen Mayhew, chief executive of Havebury Housing Partnership, said: “Delivering new, high quality affordable housing for our tenants is one of our top priorities at Havebury.
“In addition, our new office in the centre of Haverhill will offer a more convenient service to our Haverhill tenants who will be able to access local services and advice on rents, repairs, supported housing and neighbourhood enquiries.”
Havebury’s current Manor Road office will close at 5pm on Wednesday 3 April and the new office will open at 83 High Street at 9am on Monday 8 April. Any tenants needing assistance between these times can call 0300 3300 900 or visit Havebury’s other office in Bury St Edmunds.
