New children's football tournament launched
Thursday, 1st November 2012.
Haverhill Leisure Centre will launch a regular children’s football tournament this Sunday sponsored by estate agents Cheffins.
A year five and six football tournament for children aged ten and 11 will kick off the new regular tournaments at the centre in Ehringshausen Way from 1pm to 4pm.
A second tournament for school years seven to eight for 12 and 13-year-olds will take place on Sunday, December 2.
The two tournaments are the first of what the centre hopes will be a regular feature to encourage more children to keep active. Cheffins has provided sponsorship for the medals and trophies at the tournaments.
Amelia Epton, Abbeycroft’s children and young people programme manager, said: “We ran these tournaments for children many years ago and they proved very popular so we have decided to launch them again.”
If your children are interested in taking part then contact the centre on 01440 702548. It costs £10 to enter a team of seven - five players and two substitutes.
