New bandstand comes into play
Thursday, 24th June 1999.
THE new Millennium Bandstand on Recreation Ground was officially opened with a concert by the award-winning Haverhill Silver Band, under the baton of Charles Shipp.
The new bandstand cost around £40,000 and was jointly funded by Haverhill Town Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council.
It is of traditional design, made by Ollerton Engineering, and there are still one or two finishing touches to be made.
A Sunday funday will take place there on Sunday at 2pm, with free magic show, balloon modelling, music games and a bouncy castle.
