New Access to Haverhill Leisure Centre
Monday, 12th November 2007.
A new route which will give customers better access to Haverhill Leisure Centre has been opened while work on the town’s multiplex cinema complex takes place.
Drivers can now get direct access to the new 96-space car park behind the fire station by using Reeds Lane. This new route replaces the access leading into and out of the Leisure Centre at the front of the building, from Ehringshausen Way. This entrance has been closed while work, such as building a new junction and roundabout on Ehringshausen Way, takes place.
Cllr Nigel Aitkens, St Edmundsbury’s Cabinet member with responsibility for Haverhill, said:
“We’d like to remind the customers of Haverhill’s popular Leisure Centre that the building is still open for business, despite the work which is taking place close by to create the cinema and restaurant complex. We are keen to keep any disruption that the building work may cause to local people to an absolute minimum, and hope this new route will provide Leisure Centre customers with a convenient alternative to the front access.”
Warren Smyth, Chief Executive at Abbeycroft Leisure, said:
“Abbeycroft Leisure is keen to ensure that customers can continue their healthy lifestyle throughout the project. The creation of this new route will ease any disruption to customers and enable them to access the facilities at Haverhill Leisure Centre via an alternative entrance.”
Work on the five-screen multiplex cinema complex, which will include a drive-through, shop and two restaurants, began earlier in the autumn and is due for completion by late next year.
