MPs open platform for local windfarm debate
Friday, 27th August 2010.
Two local MPs are joining forces to give local people the chance to say what they think about proposals to build a wind farm near Haverhill.
Tim Yeo and Matthew Hancock, MPs for Clare and Haverhill respectively, are holding a public meeting to give local people the chance to voice their views over proposed BT wind turbines near the boundary of their two constituencies between Clare and Stoke by Clare.
They announced in June their intention to unite to oppose the wind farm, saying: "We believe that the visual and other impact of the proposed turbines is completely unacceptable in this attractive rural corner of Suffolk.
"We are not opposed to wind power in principle but turbines that can be seen from miles around should only be erected where they are acceptable to the communities affected."
The public meeting will take place in Hundon Village Hall on September 10, at 8pm. For more information please email timyeomp@parliament.uk or call 020 7219 6353.
