MP sees community in action at food bank
Tuesday, 22nd March 2011.
Haverhill's MP Matthew Hancock visited the food bank in the town on Friday, which provides food boxes to those in the area who are most in need.
The food bank is run as part of the Christians Against Poverty activities led in Haverhill by Henry Wilson from the River Of Life Community Church and supported by other churches in nthe town.
After his visit, Mr Hancock said: “Haverhill food bank is a lifeline for people who are most in need.
"It provides a vital service to hundreds of people and families every year. Supported by the generosity of the church and residents, over 40 dedicated volunteers give their time.
"It was a pleasure to meet the team and talk to them about their experience at the food bank.
“Delivering food to an individual or family in desperate need does not just give them sustenance, but shows that others in the community in Haverhill care and are there to help. The work that they do is admirable, and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.”
