MP joins in traditional festive occasion
Wednesday, 29th December 2010.
Haverhill's MP Matthew Hancock found time during his Christmas celebrations to drop in on a special Haverhill Christmas occasion.
Every year Haverhill Salvatiun Army puts on a special Christmas Day lunch for people who would otherwise be alone on the festive day.
Mr Hancock and his family visited the Salvation Army hall in Chauntry Road on Christmas morning to meet Capt Jonathan Wylie, volunteers and guests.
The event included a carol service, entertainment as well as the four-course Christmas lunch.
Matthew said: "The Salvation Army lunch that Martha, the children and I went to was uplifting and very enjoyable.
"Many people work hard to make it happen and give up their time on Christmas Day - and good fun is had by all."
