MP holds first supermarket surgery in Haverhill;
Wednesday, 22nd January 2014.
Haverhill's MP Matthew Hancock is to hold his second Supermarket Surgery, and the first in Haverhill, in the Cangle Road Tesco store between 5.30 and 6.30pm, on Friday.
As well as the regular surgeries Mr Hancock holds in Haverhill, Newmarket, Brandon and Mildenhall Matthew held the first of many Supermarket Surgeries in Brandon on January 10.
The surgery was a great chance to hear from constituents directly, particularly those who otherwise might not think of contacting their MP.
Mr Hancock will be in the Haverhill store ready to listen to any issues that people are concerned about. In Brandon people raised everything from local transport to education and he is looking forward to hearing from constituents in Haverhill.
He said: “I’m looking forward to my first Supermarket Surgery in Haverhill this Friday. It’s vital for me to do my job as Haverhill’s MP to hear from my constituents directly.
"Normal surgeries are important for getting into details with one person, but lots of people might not even think to contact their MP.
"Holding surgeries in supermarkets, where everyone is welcome to bring up any issue is, I hope, a good way to meet people I might not otherwise get a chance to meet and to listen to their concerns.
“I will always do what I can to help so I hope anyone doing their shopping in Haverhill this Friday evening will drop by, whether to ask a question, for help with an issue or for a chat.”
