MP delighted at turnout for his jobs fair
Friday, 23rd November 2012.
The Jobs Fair held today at the New Croft football facility in Haverhill, and organised by MP Matthew Hancock, proved a roaring success.
The fair, which attracted major employers from the town, including, Sainsbury’s, Delstar, CXG, Abbeycroft Leisure and Havebury Housing Partnership, ran from 10am to 2pm and was crowded from the very beginning.
Mr Hancock, who as well as being Haverhill’s MP, is also the Minister for Skills, opened the fair and praised the work of the Jobcentre in helping him pull it together.
He said: "There are amazing opportunities in Haverhill, where cutting edge technologies are creating products no one else in the world could deliver."
Mr Hancock said his predecessor as Minister for Skills had spoken to him about a jobs fair in Haverhill and offered to come and open it, but then a cabinet reshuffle took place, he was promoted and Mr Hancock got his job.
He said he was delighted with how busy the jobs fair had been and hoped it would result in more jobs for young Haverhill people.
