MP backs pubs as a place to see Royal Wedding
Tuesday, 19th April 2011.
Haverhill's MP Matthew Hancock has joined the landlord of his local pub, The Cock at Thurlow, Giles Reardon-Smith, and Conservative MEP, Robert Sturdy, to celebrate the launch of the pub’s new Greene King Celebration Ale which has been brewed to mark the Royal Wedding.
Mr Hancock said: “I am a strong supporter of village pubs, which are such an important part of our rural communities.
"What can be better than watching the Royal Wedding at the local pub? Greene King have brewed a delicious new beer to mark the occasion, and I’m glad to have the chance to lend our local pubs my support.”
Mr Reardon-Smith said: “Matthew and Robert have become firm friends since my wife and I took over the pub 18 months ago and have been extremely supportive.
"Having the Royal Wedding Celebration Ale on tap provided a great reason to bring all three of us together to raise a glass to our future King.
"I'm delighted to say that both of them loved the specially brewed beer and gave it their seal of approval. The celebration ale will be available for the next couple of weeks and on the day of the wedding we will be showing the coverage on TV and throwing a party for all our customers which will include a Royal-themed menu.”
