Haverhill Town Mayor Eric Bowman visited the House of Commons to have tea with the town’s MP Richard Spring.

Mr Spring arranged for Coun Bowman to visit Stranglers Gallery before meeting him afterwards in the Pugin Room, overlooking the River Thames.

Mr Spring said: “Councillor Bowman is an excellent town mayor and has many admirable qualities. I hope it was a memorable afternoon for him.

“We discussed over tea issues of mutual interest affecting Haverhill. We both have the long term interests of the town and its residents at heart. I particularly support his efforts in the voluntary sector.”

Coun Bowman said he had enjoyed talking to Mr Spring about Haverhill and its future.

“We talked about the town and its aspirations, the lack of a hotel and restaurant and the need for white collar jobs.”
