The congregation at Haverhill Methodist Church recently celebrated the opening of their newly extended and refurbished church hall.

The building, which forms part of the church premises in Camps Road, is home to a number of community organisations every week.

Among others, a pre-school playgroup meets in the hall every weekday morning, as well as a mums and toddlers group on Monday and Thursday afternoons each week.

Church minister the Rev Nigel Bishop said: “The building work went on for months and faced delays due to the poor weather last year.

"Now that the building has re-opened we are very pleased to offer a much more contemporary and comfortable space for the community groups who meet there.”

On Sunday the church congregation gathered in the hall to mark the official re-opening of the building.

Jonathan Tengbe did the honours by cutting the red ribbon. Following the ceremony everyone celebrated, enjoying a meal in the hall.
