Matthew Hancock MP welcomes new Enterprise Zone for Haverhill

Matthew Hancock MP is delighted that Haverhill is set to economically benefit following the Chancellor’s approval of a bid to designate Haverhill Research Park as an Enterprise Zone in the Autumn Statement.
The Rt Hon George Osborne MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, confirmed on Wednesday that Cambridge Compass Enterprise Zone has been approved and will include Haverhill Research Park in the plan.
Haverhill Research Park offers 37,000 sq m of commercial space. This means that Haverhill will become part of The 'Cambridge Compass', – a global innovation centre – to the surrounding market towns, new communities and wider rural areas to boost the local and national economy.
Commenting, Matthew said:
“This is a really exciting project for both Haverhill. I have always said that Haverhill has so much potential, and having Haverhill Research Park included as one of the sites in the Cambridge Compass Enterprise Zone will be another boost for the local economy.
Haverhill is just one a handful of areas around the region to benefit from this and has been designed to encourage economic growth. This is a real coup for us and chimes in well with local council’s aim to provide up to 2,000 new skilled jobs for people living in Haverhill”
