Matthew Hancock MP Encouraged by Local Employment Figures
Thursday, 21st April 2016.
Matthew Hancock MP welcomes today’s figures which show that unemployment in West Suffolk continues to fall and now stands at 478.
Unemployment in West Suffolk has fallen year on year since 2012, having dropped by 32% over the last year alone, and it is now 74% lower than in 2010.
Youth unemployment is following the same route with today’s figures showing it at its lowest level for more than 11 years, when the Office of National Statistics began publishing data for West Suffolk.
Commenting, Matthew said:
“It is great to see the huge progress being made on employment West Suffolk over the past few years.
“It is encouraging to know that young people are not being left behind on this progress, as we are now seeing youth unemployment at the lowest rates since local records began. This means that young people are going out and learning skills that will help them get on in later life.”
