Tuesday, 19th July 2016.
Matt Hancock, MP for West Suffolk, has been appointed the Minister of State for Digital and Culture in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. He will be responsible for the digital economy, mobile communication, and for the arts including museums and galleries.
Commenting, Matt said:
“I’m delighted to be given the task of looking after the nation’s digital economy and being responsible for British creatives industries and culture.
The digital economy is critical to our nation’s future. Broadband is a massive issue across West Suffolk and we have to get it right.
Theatres and museums are one of the best things about Britain. I want to see Britain as the best place in the world for digital and cultural interests and needs. Our aim is to make Britain the world leader in culture and digital technology. It is my job to make that happen and I am looking forward to the challenge.
There is a huge amount to do”
