Massive snow sculpture does a disappearing act
Thursday, 11th January 2001.
A STRANGE figure appeared and then quickly disappeared on Recreation Ground during the recent snowy spell.
Roxanna Lee, daughter of town council leader Maggie Lee, is pictured with the lOft high result of an impromptu snow sculpting session. Nick Keeble, the town council’s leisure worker and his wife Catherine started making their own snow creations, to be joined by Coun Lee and her daughters, town clerk Gordon Mussett and several more people. “People just joined in and we ended up with 10 or 12 of us. Some of the children had never seen that amount of snow before and it was the sort of snow that stayed put and was just right for sculpting. He was a huge figure with the head of a unicorn and arms,” Mr Keeble said.
