Man escapes robber in midnight encounter

A man was pulled to the ground just after midnight on Sunday morning by a man who tried to rob him.
The incident happened around 12.25am near the army cadet hut in Withersfield Road, when a man walking along the pavement was stopped by another man who demanded money.
He grabbed him by the waist and pulled him to the floor, but the victim was able to break free and run off.
The attacker is described as a white male, about 6ft tall, of muscular build and in his 20s wwith short dark hair, clean shaven and wearing a slim-fit short-sleeved shirt, dark jeans and dark shoes.
