Make sure your purse is not visible to a thief
Tuesday, 13th December 2011.
Haverhill police have appealed to shoppers to be careful with their purses after a series of purse thefts in the town.
The victims have generally been older people who sometimes leave their purses visible in their bags or on their shopping trolley.
PC Richard Oldroyd of Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team re-iterated seasonal warnings about protecting your property from thieves.
"Older members of the community sometimes put their purses in theior trolleys and then get distracted, or turn to get an item off another shelf," he said.
"We would ask people to be as vigilant as possible, and make sure your purse is not on show. There are purse bells available free from the police station as an additional security measure."
