Major local employers commit to MP's jobs fair
Monday, 19th November 2012.
This Friday's Haverhill Jobs Fair now has over 20 confirmed exhibitors including major local employers like Sainsbury’s and Delstar Engineering.
The National Apprenticeship Service will also be present at the event, which is being organised by the town's MP Matthew Hancock, explaining the opportunities available to people of all ages in starting an apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships allow people - in particular school leavers - the chance to earn a living while working towards a valuable qualification both through study and in the workplace.
Mr Hancock is the Minister for Skills and has responsibility for apprenticeships as part of his role.
The National Careers Service will also be at the Fair, providing advice to jobseekers and those looking to change jobs. Other exhibitors will also be running workshops and sessions on CV-writing throughout the day.
The jobs fair takes place at Haverhill Football Club on Friday, November 23, from 10am to 2pm and there will be opportunities to apply for current and future vacancies, as well as attend workshops. Admission is free and everyone is encouraged to come along.
Mr Hancock said: “I am delighted that the National Apprenticeship Service is going to join the many local employers who have agreed to come to the Jobs Fair.
"I am keen that we get as many people as possible involved in the fair to ensure it does the maximum possible good for jobseekers in Haverhill.
“Apprenticeships provide a great way for people of all ages to earn and learn at the same time and the variety of opportunities on display on Friday should mean there is something for everyone.”
