Main golf fixtures beat the weather

Fortunately the weather just about held out for the fixtures at Haverhill Golf Club last week.
The ladies played their midweek medal on November 4 and the results were as follows: first Denise Walker with a nett 79 on count back from second Debbie Kerchiss also with a nett 79. Eileen Kiddy finished in third with a nett 82.
The Saturday medal results were: first Geraldine Wheatley with a nett 73, second Catie Heathfield with a nett 74 and in third Doreen Darbey with a nett 77.
On Sunday, November 8, the friendly match against Bourn Golf Club finally took place, after having been postponed on two previous occasions.
After a minute’s silence at 11am, in respect of Remembrance Sunday, the match went ahead and was played in Hambro style. It was a very closely fought battle and the final result was a win for Bourn by 3 holes.
The matches were as follows: Dennis Harkness & Derek Pollitt 6up, Roger Campbell & Jim Rennie 2 down, Don Humphries & Derek Olive 2 down, and finally Mick Turner & Dave Chapman 5 down.
