Magpas helicopter called in after man suffers heart attack
Monday, 23rd September 2013.
The Magpas Helimedix helicopter was called to Haverhill yesterday lunchtime after a man had a heart attack.
Around 12.15pm it landed in the playing field at Castle Manor Academy after a man in his 40s suffered a cardiac arrest nearby.
When the Magpas team arrived, an EEAST Ambulance Paramedic was providing advanced support for the patient.
The Helimedix then anaesthetised the man, before accompanying him in a land ambulance to Papworth Hospital, monitoring his condition all the way. On arrival at the hospital, the patient was in a serious but stable condition.
Magpas volunteer paramedic Steve Chambers said: “We would like to thank the EEAST Ambulance paramedic who was also at the scene. He worked brilliantly and was extremely helpful."
